Joe Traill
I'm Joe, yes there is a Joe, and on the following pages I'll introduce
you to some of our most important staff. But first a little about myself.
It all started for me when I first started working in a bike
shop. Almost from my first day I was thinking about how I'd do it
differently. It could be a real pain to work with me. The most
important difference I came up with, and something I still firmly
believe, was that if you take care of your customers, they'll take
care of you. So far this has worked well for us. I worked there for
about 4 years, starting as a mechanic, working my way up to manager,
and then back down to salesperson (creative differences).
My next job was for 2 years as a mechanic. No working up or down, no
creative differences. I started working in bike shops as a way to
support my bike racing habit. I had started racing while working as
a bike messenger. My bike racing career was never that accomplished,
I should have stuck to messengering. I did manage to become a fairly
competitive sport class racer, and won the Druid hill training race
a couple times (albeit the B race). However, I knew all too well I'd
never be fast enough to hang with the expert/pro. I'm afraid I haven't
raced since taking over The Mt. Washington Bike Shop, but I still hold
out hope of giving it another try. I think that pretty much brings us
up to date.
I'm married to Katie and have two sons, Patrick and Max. None of this
would be possible without their support. I'm a Gemini and I ride a
Trek OCLV, a Lemond Titanium, a Colnago Dream Plus, a Trek STP400, a
Klein Mantra pro, a Trek 9.8, a Lemond Poprad, a Giordana track bike,
a Bianchi B.O.S.S. single speed, and an S&M bmx bike. Katie has a
Merckx teamSC, a Klein attitude, and a Ritchey swisscross. Patrick has
a Trek Fuel and an S&M SD-4. Max has a Trek Mt. Cub, but he's ready
to upgrade. I think that covers our basement. Thanks and read on!
